As the Next Collegiate League (NCL) gears up for its fifth season, all eyes are on the storied rivalry between Delaware State University and Morgan State University. While for Morgan State, as Head Coach Skyler Hargrave has stated, they are in a “rebuilding phase” having to replace several star seniors like, Jaden Scott and Malachai Davis.

Delaware State Head Coach Julian Dixon – who has took part in the rivalry as a player the first 3 years – highlighted when he believes the rivalry began. “It started at USA Lacrosse when we lost to them the first time. That is what sparked it as they were the first team to beat us back in 2022 and then it just became a competition from there.”

On the other side, Morgan State’s Head Coach Skyler Hargrave depicted how great the rivalry has been. “We’ve had a great rivalry with Delaware State. We always look forward to playing them. And with JD (Julian Dixon) is the Coach now which is phenomenal to see his growth as a young man.”
